Each year, Le Guess Who? invites guest curators to create their own dedicated programs, highlighting their inspirations, emerging acts and fellow like-minded artists, with an emphasis on discovery and exploration.
Drummer-composer and multi-instrumentalist Valentina Magaletti introduces her curation at Le Guess Who? 2025 with a personally compiled playlist.
After being invited by Heba Kadry and Stereolab, and having lit up the stage with projects like Moin, Holy Tongue and Vanishing Twin, it was only a matter of time before Valentina Magaletti took the reins as guest curator for Le Guess Who? 2025. Her curation is fearless, queer and refreshingly direct — a sonic world rooted in radical collaboration, experimentation and openness.
For the festival, she brings together a forward-thinking line-up of boundary-pushing artists, while also stepping into the spotlight herself. This year, Valentina Magaletti returns to Le Guess Who?, both as a festival curator and as a performer.
The playlist she created features baritone guitar and drum duo Able Noise; composer and musicologist Youmna Saba who performs side by side with multi-faceted electronic producer Al Wootton; guitarist, vocalist and producer Alpha Maid, who's balancing noise experimentation and pop vocal hooks; legendary figure in Japanese underground music, PHEW; and musician, producer and multidisciplinary artist Klein.
Furthermore, you can explore Ancient Indigenous Africans, a collaboration between turntablist and producer Mutamassik and vocalist and narrator Lengai Loita; PRAM, who's sound is driven by an innovative rhythm section, where the drums pulse with command, while bass grooves with a deep, experimental edge; The Mad Laboratory of Anti-Matter, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Nadia Daou and Paed Conca who combine intense beats, looped and chopped vocal samples, and unconventional sounds; V/Z, consisting of Valentina Magaletti herself and multi-instrumentalist and producer Zongamin; experimental pop duo Voice Actor; and electronic producer upsammy, who's discography is very diversified - ranging from trippy left-field to experimental drum & bass and oddball techno.
