Last night, Friday, 8 November, we welcomed Björk for a surprise DJ set in the TivoliVredenburg venue. Björk was present at the festival as a guest of 2019 festival curators Iris van Herpen, a Dutch radical fashion designer, and sound artist Salvador Breed.
Iris van Herpen and Salvador Breed have invited a.o. Danish pop adventurers Efterklang; Sound artist Holly Herndon, who will present her new album ‘PROTO’; American rapper, performance artist, poet and activist Mykki Blanco; Berlin-based duo Amnesia Scanner; J-E-T-S, the collaboration between Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum’s Travis Stewart; and Dutch composer/cellist Maarten Vos + scenography by Nick Verstand. Van Herpen and Breed also hosted an exhibition by Icelandic hand embroidery artist James Merry as part of our Untitled program.
Björk wore one of van Herpen’s spectacular designs during the set, which took place in TivoliVredenburg’s Cloud Nine venue. Watch the video below. Dutch music platform VPRO 3voor12 captured Björk's set in a Spotify playlist.
