Two years after her stunning Le Guess Who? performance, the Guatemalan-born, Mexico-based vocalist and cellist Mabe Fratti returned in 2024 as a performer as well as festival curator.
As part of her curation, Mabe Fratti presented some very special Mexican and South American acts that have influenced her personal development. Our resident photographer, Melanie Marsman, was present to capture a part of her curation, both backstage and on stage.
In 2024, Mabe Fratti released her new album Sentir Que No Sabes: a brave album, rich in both sonic inventiveness as emotional depth. At Le Guess Who?, she performed music from the album accompanied by the London-based vocal group Shards. The album was written and recorded with her partner, multi-instrumentalist, and co-composer Héctor Tosta, with whom Mabe Fratti forms Titanic, and also performed at the festival.
In addition to her own shows, Mabe Fratti curated performances by, amongst others, the quintessential ambassadors of Colombian folk music Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, and Mexican photographer, composer, and video artist Concepción Huerta.
Furthermore, performing as part of the curation were improvisational artist, composer, producer, and performer Germán Bringas, also dubbed the "father of Mexican experimental music", and London-based Mexican violinist, composer, and improviser Gibrana Cervantes.
