At Le Guess Who? 2025, Brazilian trailblazing Black & queer collective BATEKOO joined forces with the powerhouse dolls from Amsterdam-based collective Los Angles for a club night at De Helling to celebrate queer & trans communities.
Our resident photographer, Tengbeh Kamara, was present to capture the club night and the special moments surrounding it, both backstage as well as on stage.
BATEKOO is dedicated to creating safe, creative spaces for marginalized LGBTQIA+ and Black communities in Brazil and beyond. Los Angles presents and nurtures the talents of trans artists, showcasing many worlds of queer expression and creativity. Together they presented a program that featured Linn da Quebrada, whose art stands out as a political tool, addressing themes that intersect with her experiences and worldview as a trans woman and LGBTQIA+ advocate.
Furthermore, the night involved DJ Mina Galán, who, with her party Club Stamina, has created a platform for a new generation of trans femme DJs and Latin club trailblazers; and two Los Angles powerhouse DJs, smother and YoungWoman, who are also co-founders of the collective.
Open format DJ and co-founder of BATEKOO, Mirands, and the collective's Master of Ceremony, Juju ZL, who centers embodiment and body awareness in her work, delivering powerful speeches on respect and plurality, also performed as part of the club night.
