The Harvest Time Project: A Tribute to Pharoah Sanders
Once, John Coltrane described himself, Pharaoh Sanders, and Albert Ayler as ‘the father, the son, and the holy ghost’. Throughout his decade-spanning career though, Sanders often embodied all three. His spiritual mastery of the saxophone is best experienced in his seminal 1977 composition, ‘Harvest Time’. Alongside Luaka Bop’s first official reissue of ‘Pharoah’, the record of which it is part of, we are proud to present the world premiere of The Harvest Time Project: A Tribute to Pharoah Sanders, to celebrate the legacy of the artist. For this dynamic concert, musicians around the world will memorialize Sanders’ eternal work. At Le Guess Who?, we will hear from the likes of Irreversible Entanglements, Domenico Lancellotti, Hamid Drake, and even original ‘Pharoah’ guitarist Tisziji Muñoz, who will be playing under the musical direction of Joshua Abrams (Natural Information Society, original member of The Roots, etc.).
