R_R_ & Gintė Preisaitė
COSMOS
Sound artist and musician R_R_ moves between ambient music, field recording, subtle rhythmic structures and the attentive observation of sound within landscapes and everyday environments. Alongside his artistic practice, he co-runs the independent internet radio platform Tīrkultūra and hosts shows on international platforms like NTS Radio, The Lot Radio and Refuge Worldwide.
Through a variety of timbres, textures, sound collage of melodies and percussive figures, Gintė Preisaitė finds the thin spaces of transcendence and transformation between acoustic instrumentation and the electronic processing of contemporary compositions. She moves between ambient, drone and experimental songwriting, exploring themes of escapism and memory through sound. Collisions pile up as ideas meet between her classical and improvisational background, and playful, sample-based material, focusing on instrumental timbres, extended techniques and earthy vocals.
These two artists are performing together as part of Baltic Rehearsals, a residency project that supports the creation of new music from Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. The project is initiated by COSMOS Embassy ICRN, together with radio stations Tīrkultūra and IDA.
