KMRU & Aho Ssan performing Limen
Curated by clipping.
In 2021, Kenyan sound artist Joseph Kamaru (KMRU) and French digital alchemist Niamké Désiré (Aho Ssan), were invited by Berlin Atonal to collaborate on a project for the festival's Metabolic Rift edition. The outcome was 'Limen' - Kamaru and Désiré's emotionally charged sonic inspection of our pandemic-fueled, shifting world. Of 'Ruined Abstractions', the first track the duo recorded, Désiré said 'I never made something so extreme'. The sprawling composition, weighed down by dense low-end drones, fractal digital fuzz, and smokestack bruit, is the right ambience-setter for the pair’s seismic 2022 debut, now turned to the stage.
