Before coming together more recently, Eddie Chacon and John Carroll Kirby may have seemed completely different characters in music. Chacon had experienced proper fame in the mid-nineties, as part of the soul duo Charles & Eddie, whereas Kirby had been more of a behind-the-scenes figure in contemporary music, producing for artists like Frank Ocean and Solange. But, in ‘Pleasure, Joy and Happiness’, their collaborative album from 2020, they find a common groove and prove to be a match made in heaven.
