Watch: Sudan Archives releases 'Confessions' video, from upcoming debut album 'Athena'
Violinist, singer, songwriter and producer Sudan Archives shared the first single from her upcoming debut album, now she follows up with a stunning video for 'Confessions', whose closing section also debuts portions of new song 'Black Vivaldi Sonata'. Both tracks are from her impending debut full length 'Athena', out 1 November via Stones Throw.
Sudan Archives is one of the most exciting and distinctive musicians working today. Her innovative take on the violin has drawn similar comparisons to Jimi Hendrix’s mastery of the guitar, reconciling the instruments traditional features with folkloric African styles like no artist before her.
Athena follows Sudan Archives’ debut EP Sudan Archives (2017) and the Sink (2018), which garnered global acclaim. The 'Confessions' video is directed by Nathan R. Smith (DRAM, Joey Bada$$, 2 Chainz) - watch below.
Sudan Archives performs at Le Guess Who? 2019 on Saturday, 9 November, as part of Moon Duo's curation. Also performing at the festival are a.o. Holly Herndon, Ayalew Mesfin & Debo Band, Asha Puthli, Jenny Hval, Yves Jarvis, Doug Hream Blunt, La Bruja de Texcoco, Nídia, OSHUN, Mala, ZONAL feat. Moor Mother & Nazamba, Lafawndah, and many more.
