Asha Puthli is a true international icon, not to mention one of the first recording artists to successfully merge traditional Indian influences with Western pop. Photographer Melanie Marsman spent a day in Utrecht with the award-winning jazz vocalist / international pop star / space disco icon, leading up to her very rare live performance at Le Guess Who? 2019. 

Melanie Marsman captured moments backstage, of Asha Puthli at her hotel, in make-up and preparing for her show backstage at TivoliVredenburg before her performance as closing act of the festival, featuring songs from her impressive back catalogue.
