Mixing electronic music, punk and rap, LustSickPuppy's live shows are a perfect mix of experimentation, chaos and rave energy: a must-see for fans of hyper-pop and digital hardcore.
Last April, performer and producer Tommy Hayes released CAROUSEL FROM HELL, their debut album under the moniker LustSickPuppy. The record infiltrates into the vast variety of electronic music sub-genres – including breakbeat, techno, drum and bass and many more – to establish a catchy and abrasive sound that escapes genre definitions.
Vogue describes their music as chaotic and impulsive, but there is room left for intentionality; the artist says their smiley face paint reveals their struggle as a Black queer person ‘having to smile my way through this fucked up world’. Their on-stage bravado makes it easy to challenge ourselves to see beneath the mask of make-up.
LustSickPuppy perform at Le Guess Who? 2004 on Friday, 8 November, as part of the program curated by Crystallmess. Also performing at the festival are a.o Muovipussi, HiTech, Angry Blackmen, and many more.
