Tommy Hayes, or LustSickPuppy, is a curator of chaos. The Brooklyn artist’s music can be everything from punk to gabber; a gorgeous mesh of glitter and blood. Vogue describes their music as ‘chaotic’ and ‘impulsive’, but there is room left for intentionality; the artist says their smiley face paint reveals their struggle as a Black queer person ‘having to smile my way through this fucked up world’. Their on-stage bravado makes it easy to challenge ourselves to see beneath the mask of make-up.
