Innovative producer and selector Ciel incorporates a diversity of genres she loves in her sets, from drum & bass and house to electro and breaks. Informed with tech house and Chinese traditional sounds, her productions are rich with curious textures, nature-inspired samples and airy, whimsical elements. Ciel's latest track Memento Mori, released as part of the compilation uu012 by unknown-untitled, taps into her obsessions with leftfield bass music and 70s body horror films.
Across 23 albums, Calibre navigates genres seamlessly—shifting from drum & bass to dubstep, techno, house, ambient, jazz, soul, blues and folk. The Belfast-born polymath is a celebrated DJ and unpredictable producer: he regularly shares ambient mixes, remixes and new productions. His latest release is Little Foot, a 120bpm to 140bpm version of Shelflife, a collection of 20 tracks made over the last 20 years.
Since discovering electronic music via online communities as a teenager, gyrofield has followed curiosity and inspiration into disparate musical territory. Fueled by an unrelenting drive to push boundaries, their digital productions become moody and introspective through IDM experimentation, jungle breakbeats, melodic synths and chopped vocal samples. gyrofield now releases Suspension of Belief, continuing a creative renaissance that moves beyond the outer fringes of drum & bass and presents what they call "a set of deeper, shapeshifting tracks, cross-pollinating ideas from house, free jazz and techno".
The new EP is an elegant paradox, inspired by a summer spent in nature, encapsulating the artist's lived experiences and personal reflections. From the warm upright bass on Vegetation Grows Thick to the rattling, "Spastik”-esque snare rolls of Bolete, the record is at once steely and organic, with dreamlike states giving way to depth and intensity. It’s functional enough for rituals of escapism but determined to confront the world as it really is.
gyrofield's Suspension of Belief arrives via Kapsela, the label founded by the fourth artist in their curation: Objekt. As a meticulous producer of hyper-detailed IDM soundscapes and disassembled dubstep tracks, Objekt has an unpredictable and unique approach to DJing. Feeding off spontaneity and crowd energy, he could duck and dive through half a dozen genres in pursuit of an unhinged party atmosphere. It's no surprise that his latest set on The Lot Radio was listed among the Best Mixes of 2025 so far by Mixmag.
