For the October episodes of COSMOS' monthly show on Refuge Worldwide, we’re exploring Utrecht’s FLINTA* punk scene, and immerse ourselves in traditional Amazigh music and contemporary electronica from Morocco.
Bergsonist (NYC)
Bergsonist is a Moroccan-born, New York–based interdisciplinary artist, composer, and DJ. She is the founder of Pick Up The Flow NYC, a community resource, and BIZAARBAZAAR, an independent publishing imprint. Since 2018, she has also been a resident DJ on NTS Radio. For COSMOS x Refuge Worldwide, Bergsonist has crafted a mix of 100% Moroccan music, with an emphasis on traditional Amazigh music, but also contemporary sounds from her own compilation of electronic music from Morocco, which she put together for the Air Texture label earlier this year.
Girls to the Front is an Utrecht-based collective for the representation of FLINTA* in the wider punk scene. Together they create space to scream and mosh, celebrating their identities through punk as a genre, and a lifestyle. For this mix, Girls to the Front founder Bibi Bannink has selected a number of darkwave, hardcore and heavy tunes to showcase the amazing talent that make up the scene. In 2024, Bibi Bannink was one of the Community Curators for U?. She curated a program, PUNK CONNECTIONS, for her community: women & queer people who have a heart for music, activism and art.
