Teatre & Maarja Nuut
COSMOS
Diving into saturated emotions, sensitive narratives and contrasting tones, Teatre navigates the undercurrents of the electronic underground, exploring memory, fantasy and melancholy through dreamlike synth and sample arrangements. Emerging from the Lithuanian techno-industrial sphere of the late 2010s, Teatre's sonic language has since evolved into spectral, poetic contours and has recently heralded significant shifts of focus toward urban atmospheres, hauntological themes and expansive cinematic narratives.
The work of singer, violinist and electronic composer Maarja Nuut merges archaic resonances, contemporary electronics and minimalist composition into a hypnotic, deeply textured and singular whole. Classically trained, she has delved into a number of disparate genres: Hindustani classical music, Estonian archival sounds, field recording and the outer limits of electronic and experimental sound.
These two artists are performing together as part of Baltic Rehearsals, a residency project that supports the creation of new music from Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. The project is initiated by COSMOS Embassy ICRN, together with radio stations Tīrkultūra and IDA.
