For years, composer, harpist, and multi-instrumentalist Zeena Parkins and electronic music composer and drummer Ikue Mori have been the backbone of the downtown scene. Through their duo Phantom Orchard, they dial the eccentricity knob to the extreme. Their work together, as heard on their self-titled debut album (which is turning ten this year!) and 2008’s ‘Through the Looking Glass’ is soaked in mystery, lyricism, and electronic soundscapes. 2024’s ‘Hit Parade of Tears’ follows the same outlandish trajectory. According to Flex Europa, Parkins and Mori are, together, ‘beautiful and dangerous’.
