Nakibembe Embaire Group
Performing on the embaire, a giant Ugandan wooden xylophone played by six musicians at the same time, Nakibembe Embaire Group create hypnotic and joyful music. The instrument weaves polyrhythmic melodic phrases and percussion into endlessly flowing, ecstatic grooves. Working synergetically around the embaire, each musician's abstract part weaves in a dense tangle of sound, from which distinct melodies, basslines and rhythms emerge.
