mundu lawaai seeks to capture the sound of a global generation through electric song-beats where layered percussion, rap and live dub bled together. As an urban band founded for the club, their noise urges for collective improvisation facing a post-colonial, mass-media saturated reality where even baile funk and Balinese gamelan can't escape virtual dialogue.

Ceaselessly in cypher, they aim to bring archives to life in which sounds, styles, and histories of diasporas across the Netherlands, Indonesia, Brazil and the Caribbean are interwoven. A 200-year-old maracatu drum pattern, Teklife beats, a song recorded in the Jaap Kunst Archive, an Instagram reel—all become bendable sonic sources to their genre-agnostic ears.
