Melt-Banana
Curated by Los Thuthanaka
Grindcore riffs loaded with unpredictable effects, sharp shouts and crushing pressure. With their hard, experimental and singularly intense sound, Melt-Banana have become an institution for heavy music fans worldwide, including many musicians like John Zorn and Tool. The duo consists of two high energy performers: guitarist Ichiro Agata commands a battery of turntables, synths and samplers, to forge their signature hyper-tense sound. Singer Yasuko Onuki completes the violent pop sensibility with her high-pitched vocals, playful musicality and unusually colorful blends of pop melodies.
This artist is part of the program curated by Los Thuthanaka. The duo, founded by siblings Chuquimamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, has curated a program featuring artists who explore Indigenous Andean culture and translate it into contemporary experimental, electronic and psychedelic forms.
