Loraine James
Using sonic strokes of IDM, Loraine James inks a musical landscape that represents her queer, Black, British reality, mingled with her upbringing: her mum listening to anything from heavy metal to calypso, learning piano and frequenting emo and math rock shows. This wide range of interests influenced the identifiable signature of her architectural compositions, characterized by intricate drum beats and unique sound design, as well as by mesmerizing multi-textured arrangements. At times using her own voice, at times working with an impressive list of collaborators, including Marina Herlop, Alan Sparhawk, KeiyaA, Cibo Matto’s Miho Hatori, ML Buch and Tirzah, the producer leans into her own brand of experimental electronic music.
