Kamilya Jubran
Curated by Heba Kadry
Palestinian-born, Paris-based musician Kamilya Jubran is one of the most revered figures in the experimental and alternative Arabic music scenes. Raised by her music-loving parents in Galilee, for 20 years she was part of Sabreen, the East-Jerusalem collective that toured internationally weaving Arabic folklore with jazz, rock, and other contemporary styles. Decades later, Jubran continues to inspire a new generation of musicians and audiences through her multi-disciplinary work, which designs 'the space to imagine an alternative sonic future', as described by The Wire. Her 2009 record 'Makan' is set for a 2023 re-issue on Stephen O'Malley's Ideological Organ.
Here you can find the translations of the songs that Kamilya Jubran will perform: English & French.
