How to Make Noise: Tactics of Resistance Around the World - IDGK, Istanbul
Sound & Culture Summit
From sit-ins and disruptive street actions to social media campaigns: we are living in an era of mass protest. As we reclaim our rights, demand justice and catalyse change, all actions are aimed at one purpose: to be heard.
Sham Jaff will chat with Alena Verbitskaya & Berk Uslu (IDGK, Istanbul) to listen to the experiences of how they have “made noise” in order to challenge oppressive systems and resist corrupt politics. Join us as we discuss, share experiences and dive into tactics and tools of protest. In an effort to strengthen resistance efforts across the globe, visual artist La Nonette will illustrate as the conversation happens, and build a visual document of all of the shared information. The intention is to create a practical and creative resource that can be shared widely amongst the many grassroots, artists and organisers serving as a guide for future actions and providing useful insights to implement during moments of protest and resistance.
Moderator: Sham Jaff & La Nonette
