Rapper Gabe ‘Nandez reinterprets hip-hop alongside the music and spiritualism of his nomadic upbringing—between Jerusalem, Haiti, Tanzania, Canada and ultimately ultimately back to New York—as well as his South American and African heritage. Having conquered the darkness of listlessness and addiction, his lyricism is a ladder for those who struggle to overcome their own entrenchment. Shifting between personal narrative and broader social commentary, 'Nandez layers urban realism with introspective depth through dense, metaphor-rich writing. At times those metaphors dissolve into abstraction, carried by a clipped cadence and a raw-edged baritone.
