Sounds of Cabo Verde
Tabanka Records is taking on multiple roles at Le Guess Who? 2026: they are presenting Cabo Verde as a COSMOS Embassy and they are co-curating Sounds of Cabo Verde. In addition to their co-curated program, they will also be performing a special DJ set. Founded in Portugal as a vinyl record shop, Tabanka Records quickly evolved into a platform for music production, creation and artist promotion, acting as a bridge between the past and present of African music, with a strong focus on Lusophone cultures—particularly the Cabo Verdean one. For the occasion, Tabanka Records presents a DJ set by its two founders: true Lusophone music archaeologist Mama Demba and multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Henrique Silva (also founder of Acácia Maior).
This artist is part of Sounds of Cabo Verde, a special program dedicated to the diversity of Cabo Verde music culture, its traditions and the Cabo Verdean diaspora in the Netherlands.
