Fidju Kitxora
Sounds of Cabo Verde
A mysterious entity in transit between Lisbon and Cabo Verde, Fidju Kitxora ("crying child" in Kriolu) collects voices, sounds and unexpected events. The project was born from grief and longing for a land that, for years, only existed in the imagination. On stage, it transforms the dance floor into a laboratory of memory and future, where anonymous individuality becomes a collective force. After an intense year of concerts, Fidju Kitxora have just released Ti Manxe (2026), an album built from conversations, field recordings and fragments pointing to less visible layers of the Cabo Verdean context. Violence, exhaustion, grogue (a Cabo Verdean strong artisanal liqueur), memory and absence intertwine in a lived time.
This artist is part of Sounds of Cabo Verde, a special program dedicated to the diversity of Cabo Verde music culture, its traditions and the Cabo Verdean diaspora in the Netherlands.
