Ex-Easter Island Head
Curated by James Holden
UK-based musical collective Ex-Easter Island Head incorporates multiple prepared electric guitars struck with percussion mallets, creating music that explores group interplay, repetition and melodic invention through purposefully limited means. The results are highly hypnotic compositions that sound almost electronic, despite being of physical nature. EEIH have collaborated with a.o. the BBC Philharmonic, Arnold Dreyblatt, and Rhys Chatham, and acclaim from media have seen the collective compared to Steve Reich, Brian Eno and Claude Debussy.
