A year after coming to Le Guess Who? as one-half of Armand Hammer, Chaz Hall aka ELUCID is returning to glow solo. For years, the rapper and producer has shone in collaborations with others - most recently, Shabaka -, and in his solo endeavors. In 2022’s ‘I Told Bessie’, ELUCID carefully hazes the lines between ancestry and self in a tribute to his late grandmother, summoning her ‘stories and lore’. The record’s off-kilter production is handled by an abstract hip-hop dream team, made up of regulars such as Child Actor, The Alchemist, Kenny Segal, and many more.
