Egyptian singer and composer Dina El Wedidi was brought to the world’s attention through her participation in 2012’s The Nile Project, a 14-musician collaboration linking African artists living on the same river’s banks. Shortly after, the Egyptian singer, songwriter, and guitarist caught the ear of Gilberto Gil, and, under the icon’s mentorship, she honed her talent for telling stories through music, playing in England, Switzerland, the United States, Brazil, and, of course, Egypt. To this day, El Wedidi continues reshaping her sound (and her relationship to it), having taken on the role of producer for all of her latest EPs (‘Slumber’, ‘Five Seasons’, and ‘Benna).
