As Demdike Stare, Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker’s encyclopedic knowledge of music - a result of their voracious appetite for crate digging in their youth - is made crystal clear. Hailing from the North of England, the childhood friends turned collaborators in 2008 and made their official debut back in 2009; since, they have released a string of records as a duo, whose genre oscillates between dark ambient, dub, bass, drone, deconstructed club, ambient… The list goes on. Demdike Stare finds comfort in the awkwardness of never becoming too accustomed to a place; that’s where their best ideas come from.
