Buh Records is a record label, based in Lima-Peru, founded in 2004 by Luis Alvarado. Focused on a wide universe of experimental and unconventional music, with outstanding work in the historical archive of Peruvian and Latin American experimental and avant-garde music, attracting the attention of various international media.
This video-documentary portraits the current moment of the underground experimental scene in Lima, which has returned to take presence after a long confinement due to the pandemic, in the context of a political crisis that has not been resolved. The video shows DIY alternative places (basements, houses) where sound experimentation and electronic parties come together. The forms of association and collaborative economies, which have allowed the emergence of artistic collectives. And also its eclecticism, because if something defines the scene it is a coexistence of genres that has allowed flexibility and a vocation to mix and resignify. The video presents performances and interviews with various artists and managers, in which they seek to reflect on the current moment, and the forms of self-management that have been developing. Among the artists are Necrosante, Paola Torres and Mauricio Moquillaza, and spaces such as Casa Bagre, 1049 and El Paradero.
