Driven by an appetite for boundless experimentation, producer and composer Ziúr has always been subverting expectations, corkscrewing through hardcore, metal and punk before veering towards electronic music's turbulent fringes. Today, the Le Guess Who? 2025 guest curator announces her upcoming album Home, out on September 5th via Kuboraum Editions, anticipated by the single No Yawn.
On this new track, brittle, downsampled hi-hats and industrial scrapes ping-pong around distorted riffs, provided by James Ó Ceallaigh aka WIFE; “You fail to sugarcoat your half-ass attempt,” she deadpans, “to build your promised wonderland on quicksand.”
On the new album, Ziúr explores the imprecise notion of the concept of 'home'; even a dictionary will offer multiple definitions for it. It can be a place where you live, a place where you belong, where you originate from or a place where you’re given care; it can be a physical space, a land, a people or even a person. The concept isn’t completely universal, but everyone possesses a unique idea of what home means to them.
On her fifth album, Ziúr considers not just what home symbolizes from her perspective, but the word’s resonance to the diverse community that surrounds her, and how their stories have impacted her over the years. For the first time, she’s felt the need to confront her nationality: Ziúr has long avoided calling herself German, feeling disconnected from the country’s politics, culture and language. But in 2025, with Germanness in flux and progressives under siege, she offers a new narrative. Writing and singing in German for the first time, she channels personal reckoning into her most intimate album yet. Facing her demons and carving out space of comfort and protection through her music.
As part of her curation at Le Guess Who? 2025, Ziúr herself is part of two very special performances. The dance piece DE BRUJAS Y FANTASMAS is performed by dancer/performer Kianí del Valle together with with Ziúr. The captivating piece (whose title translates to Of Witches and Ghosts) delves into the rich and complex tapestry of the witch figure in Latin American culture, here explored as a transcendental entity.
Additionally, Ziúr presents Home - Live A/V with avantgarde visual artist - and long time collaborator - Sandi. They will unveil a new body of work created to accompany Ziúr’s new album, presented as an immersive audiovisual live show.
Ziúr's curation at Le Guess Who? 2025 takes place on Saturday, 8 November, and features a.o. Attila Csihar & Iggor Cavalera, Luisa Almaguer, DJ Marcelle, Tristwch Y Fenywod, and many more.
