VPRO Vrije Geluiden once again teamed up with Le Guess Who? the festival to capture several intimate sessions with festival artists - recorded at restaurant De Klub, just opposite of TivoliVredenburg. Watch below, with lots more sessions to follow the upcoming weeks.
Shards
A unique approach to vocal music: a rich, layered sound, from soft close harmonies to powerful, rhythmic structures. Conducted by Kieran Brunt, Shards combines choir singing with modern technology, such as electronics and effects pedals to enrich their sound.
Mabe Fratti
Guatemalan-born, Mexico-based avant-garde cellist and vocalist Mabe Fratti returned to Le Guess Who? in 2024 as guest curator and performer. Recently, she released her new album Sentir Que No Sabes: a brave album, rich in both sonic inventiveness as emotional depth.
Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto
Latin American music traditions Gaita and Cumbia likely would not have thrived through time without the toil of Latin GRAMMY-winning Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, who have continuously been pushing the genres towards new eras since the forties (!). The staggering talent of their generation-spanning members (as well as their commercial success and several world tours) have made Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto the quintessential ambassadors of Colombian folk music.
ganavya
Transdisciplinary scholar, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and word-craftswoman ganavya has been hailed as one of modern music’s ‘most compelling vocalists’ by the Wall Street Journal and dubbed ‘most enchanting’ by NPR. The magic of her work can be experienced on releases such as this spring’s contemplative ‘like the sky I've been too quiet’, where each listen is a new gift, but her prowess is hardly contained within the realm of recording; it comes to life on the stage.
