The Getdowns are a young hardrock & punkband from Utrecht. Influenced by bands like Pearl Jam and The Beatles, the four boys produce a massive amount of noise characterised by distortion pedals and raw vocals.
Earlier this year, U? published an open call to give everyone the opportunity to participate. The program of U? consists a multitude of events and activities which are created for and with local citizens, initiatives, entrepreneurs, social institutions and community centers. Jannes, lead singer of The Getdowns, was one the people who responded. HALFPIPE PU?NKS was their idea for a young Utrecht punk show.
The Getdowns invited two local bands: Moon, a youthful, energetic and ambitious band, who bring a much-needed, refreshingly feminine atmosphere in a genre that is mostly dominated by men; and Apeshit, providing a mix of punk, post-punk and alternative rock with their raging riffs, snappy vocals and catchy hooks.
The bands perform at Skatepark Utrecht, a large indoor skate park. While listening to the bands, you can (literally) skate through the performances.
