Following the success of last year’s pilot, U? is excited to continue co-creating the festival program with communities across the Netherlands.
We once again invite (aspiring) curators who are deeply connected to a specific community to shape the program together with us. This process is all about collaboration: we are always looking for how we can best support the growth of curators and their communities.
Community curators
We want to work with (aspiring) curators who are deeply connected to a scene or community (or perhaps multiple communities) based in the Netherlands. No prior experience with curating is necessary. We are searching for individuals with a strong drive to share the story of the community that surrounds them. This can be through music, audio/visual art, poetry, workshops, or any other discipline or format.
Community curators will have as much ownership as possible over their curation, and we will be there to support during this trajectory. These curators will collaborate with our program team, who will guide them along the way. From the initial seeds of creativity and brainstorm sessions, to translating ideas and stories to a physical presentation, to collaborating with our production and marketing teams.
You are welcome to apply as an individual or as a collective. The preparation for the project will mainly take place between May and September, with a presentation moment happening on 8 or 9 November. The amount of hours that is required will be determined by mutual agreement, depending on the nature and magnitude of the curation. It is a paid position within the collective labour agreement ‘Poppodia- en Festivals’ that Le Guess Who? uses.
About U?
U? is the participative and freely accessible city program of Le Guess Who?. With U? we want to facilitate and support new experiences, connections, and conversations with and between (local) communities. For this, we collaborate intensively with a diverse selection of partners from Utrecht and beyond.
Centered upon strengthening relationships between people, U? presents a range of multi/interdisciplinary events, such as performances, exhibitions, film screenings, food events, public discourse, participatory programs, and any other activities that focuse on facilitating new encounters.
Interested? We'd love to hear from you!
You can respond to this call via a written letter, (graphic) document or a short video (max 3 minutes). Please do so 18 March at the latest.
- Can you tell us about your community and its needs?
- How would you like to work together with your community?
- Do you already have any ideas for a program? We would love to hear these (this is not a necessity).
About Le Guess Who?
Le Guess Who? in Utrecht is a festival for groundbreaking music and culture, taking place 6-9 November 2025. It is an open, close-knit and enthusiastic organization with an informal and dynamic working atmosphere. Because we are a small team that steers away from hierarchies and are always looking for fresh perspectives, this collaboration offers an extensive look at the working methods of the festival, in terms of both programming, as well as marketing and production.
A playground for discovery and exploration,
Le Guess Who? changes minds through music and connects
communities worldwide through the power of sound
