MHYSA is the underground popstar alter ego of multidisciplinary artist E. Jane. In her experimental club tracks, she channels the legacies of Black women icons into visions of utopias.
Born in Maryland, E. Jane was enamored with singing form an early age, performing at church and school. Since 2015, they has been developing the performance persona MHYSA, an underground popstar for the cyber resistance.
Following the release of her critically acclaimed debut fantasii in 2020, and her second album NEVAEH, MHYSA now shares new album Release Control. It's a sultry album, interrogating the inherent experimentalism that exists within traditional R&B's world-building techniques, while citing Summer Walker, SZA, and Ari Lennox as vocal influences.
