Musician Mazis, raised in Iran of Azerbaijani descent, now living in Utrecht, shares new single Life After October. He secretly recorded the song during the years he lived in hiding and solitude.
Mazis tells his story with music: recognizable stories of dreams, sadness, and freedom. He was imprisoned in Iran because he made his voice heard as a musician, monitored for years, and then fled to the Netherlands to find his freedom here. Initially singing about oppression and liberation, now music is a way to heal and find hope. With sensitive songs about love, starting over, and finding your place in the world, Mazis touches on the universal search for light after times in the dark.
Mazis performs at U? 2024 on Sunday, 10 November, as part of U? Centraal presents MOḌA: a grand community-focused gathering that includes live music, fashion, food, DJ sets, and workshops, celebrating the great importance of nurturing the community.
