On the opening night of Le Guess Who? 2024, attendees will be treated to a performance by Oslo-based improvisation project DNA? AND?. Going strong for over a decade, the collective has traveled the world, played with N.U. Unruh and Hamid Drake, and gathered praise from international outlets such as The Quietus and more.
For the upcoming period, the collective of teenagers & young adults with special needs is embarking on a new project and they just launched a new fundraiser on GoFundMe. Inspired by their performance at Le Guess Who? 2019, film production company Studio Biarritz started working with the collective, in order to create an immersive virtual reality experience together.
The VR music improvisation performance is a co-creation between the team of Studio Biarritz together with the band. The final project will become a 3 - 5 song live performance, a music album in Virtual Reality. They record the music sessions in a unique and innovative way, as co-creation and exchange between both teams. The music will be played and improvised by the band, while the sound recordings and filming of the band, the implementation in the game engine Unity, the interactivity and postproduction are taken care of by the film production house Studio Biarritz and its team.
DNA? AND? and Studio Biarritz are now crowdfunding to help cover the expenses for the shoot: the film production and sound recordings of the VR piece, and make the prototype of the VR project so that we can raise additional funding and attract new partners internationally.
