Every first Monday of the month, COSMOS broadcasts episodes of their radio show on Refuge Worldwide, highlighting their deep-running network of partners from around the world. On Monday, 5 August, from 5-7 PM, COSMOS returns with two new episodes.
The first hour is curated by our friends from POP Montreál. The iconic Canadian festival tapped their fellow Quebec-based singer Erika Angell, who will premier her solo material at Le Guess Who? 2024, to put together 60 minutes of Montréal favourites, including LGW artists SUUNS, Jerusalem in my Heart, Backxwash, and more.
Erik Angell
An audacious force in genre-defying music, Montreal-based Swedish vocalist and composer Erika Angell is blissfully unaware of the concept of stretching oneself too thin. Her voice, depicted by Under The Radar as splitting the difference ‘between the divine and demonic, skillfully unhinged’, has embellished avant-garde scenes across continents. Known for her work with the art-rock group Thus Owls, and the New Music trio Beatings Are In The Body, as well as collaborations with the likes of Patrick Watson and Leonard Cohen, Angell now steps forward with her solo debut ‘The Obsession With Her Voice’.
For the second hour of COSMOS on Refuge Worldwide, this year's LGW curators Touching Bass have chosen resident selector and co-founder of 'Scene + Heard', Sammseed, to compile a mix of highlights from the Touching Bass catalogue. This mix takes you on a sonic journey highlighting the incredible artists within the Touching Bass community in the UK, so keep it locked for one hour of meditative jams, soul shakers and limb stretchers.
Touching Bass
Touching Bass is a London-based musical movement founded by Errol and Alex Rita. A community-come-club night, award-nominated record label, staple NTS Radio show, concert series and curatorial studio, it has steadily established itself as one of London’s most important musical incubators, gaining cult status for its community spirit, musical eclecticism and intentional approach.
