Multi-disciplinary and genre-blending artist Cézanne paints musical landscapes with her music. She writes songs that explore self-reflection and societal norms, offering listeners a transformative experience. Cézanne describes her music a Cinematic Soul: a lush, emotionally evocative genre that blends soul with the immersive atmosphere of film scores.
In March 2025, Cézanne released Sugar High, the first single from her debut album Sunflower Child, accompanied by her self-directed music video. The full album is set to release in October 2025, marking a significant milestone in her musical career.
Sugar High begins in darkness — the night, the winter, the weight of inner turmoil — and gradually unfolds into light, warmth, and renewal. At its core lies a compassionate dialogue with the self: learning to face the shadows of negative self-talk, and transforming them into a place of peace.
The album Sunflower Child was born out of a deeply personal process. Writing these songs became a form of alchemy: taking these uncomfortable emotions and turning them into something bearable and even beautiful, to release what was stored so long. Listeners move through cathartic surges that feel like a tsunami, only to arrive at a state of quiet clarity afterward. The sunflower became a guiding metaphor in this process: just as it instinctively turns to face the light, Sunflower Child reflects her search for "the inner light, which I now know, is always there, as long as you let all of you be there too”.

Before it became clear that they belonged together, the making of the album began with individual songs and productions, written without a clear purpose. During the writing process, the bigger picture formed — the songs were not just a collection, but a coherent album with a distinct storyline. In collaboration with producer Boudewijn Pleij the album found its final form.
Cézanne performs at U? 2025 on Saturday, 8 November. Also performing are a.o. De Nachtelijke Escapades, Salamander, and many more.
