Brian Jackson performed live during the closing night of Le Guess Who? 2024, featuring a string of classic tracks such as The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, Home Is Where the Hatred Is, and Winter in America. You can now listen to, and relive, the full performance below.
As one-half of power duo Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson, Brian's fingerprints are still all over music today - from Common to Kendrick Lamar to Tupac and more. Almost 50 years later, the American keyboardist, flutist, singer, composer, and producer is still creating alongside contemporary names like Adrian Younge, Ali Shaheed Muhammad (Tribe Called Quest), Gregory Porter, and many more. He looks to the present and the past for ways to embody the griot - the African troubadour of truth. "This music isn't really mine," Brian asserts. "I learned it from those who came before me. It's my job to pass on what I've learned. That's the Tradition."
