Alabaster dePlume covers Arthur Russell and Jaimie Branch for Lagniappe Sessions
Thursday Feb 18th 2021
Jazz musician and poet Alabaster dePlume has recorded three covers for The Lagniappe Sessions, for which LA audio journal Aquarium Drunkard asks musicians to pay tribute to some of their favorite artists.
The session includes covers of 'A Little Lost' by the late avant-pop artist Arthur Russell, friend and contemporary Jaimie Branch's 'Love Song' and a traditional Georgian song, as arranged by the Alexandrov Ensemble, called 'Souliko'. You can listen to the session here.
“One of the things I regularly say about the Total Refreshment Centre (the studio here in London where we work on our music) is that “the best thing about it is the people.” One of those deep heroes that this life-changing place has collided me with, is the siren of hope Jaimie Branch.” - Alabaster DePlume
Alabaster dePlume will be Le Guess Who? 2021’s Artist in Residence. Other artists that will perform at the fourteenth edition of the festival are Mount Eerie, Lucrecia Dalt, Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Midori Takada, and many more.
