The Ex & Brass Unbound
A vital bursts of creativity since 1979, The Ex has always experimented with styles and musical forms, preferring improvisation over predictability and risk over safe formulas. Often teaming up with improvisers from all over the world, this year the Dutch quartet is bringing back a particularly striking expansion, their project with Brass Unbound. They will be joined by familiar fellow travellers Ken Vandermark (reeds), Mats Gustafsson (reeds) and Roy Paci (trumpet), as well as three younger musicians who have entered their orbit in recent years: Hanne De Backer (baritone sax), Signe Emmeluth (sax) and Guro Kvale (trombone).
