Drone-based music often wields the power to blur that stark hierarchy between audience and stage, to level everyone in the room as both participant and listener. Korean duo TENGGER are no exception to that rule, but they do stand out. TENGGER take a very tactile approach to drone music, exposing its blood and guts with organic-sounding elements like harmonium, drum machine and vocal improvisation. So their self-coined ‘new age drone magic’ hallmark is apt, as they relish in both the spirituality and physicality of their work.
