With last year’s ‘Endure’, New Orleans-based Special Interest cemented themselves as everyone’s readily-embraced champions of joyful and biting glam punk. Thanks to fearless vocalist Alli Logout and their unbridled energy on and off the stage, those who lend the band an ear may be prone to feeling a little freer, bolder, and happier. As the group broaches everything from climate disaster to gentrification, we are reminded that yes, the world is over, but, also, yes, we can dance, and, indeed, endure in an increasingly unwelcoming globe. As they play on, Special Interest’s bond extends to the mosh pit, and that might just be true.
