Sarine & Yantra
Roaming through improvisational, modal excursions, arising from the interplay between percussions and strings, drums and flutes, Sarine & Yantra channel their dialogue through ears and minds of the audience. The duo consists of both DEAFKIDS members: rummer and percussionist Mariano Melo aka Sarine and multi-instrumentalist Douglas Leal aka Yantra. Sarine explores rhythm from its primordial dimensions to its possibilities as a sophisticated resource and a guide towards possible futures, while Yantra draws on the metaphysical aspects of music, sounds of nature, and modal traditions. Together, they navigate sonic journeys into the unknown, using drums, percussion, flutes, the Greek bouzouki, and other acoustic, traditional, and handcrafted instruments.
