Right Relations: Bridging The Gap Between Communities and Institutions
Sound & Culture Summit
How can institutions and grassroots collectives collaborate in truly meaningful, community-centered ways? This panel explores what communities and collectives need in order to build effective partnerships. We'll share best practices that lead to shared power and sustainable impact, and discuss common pitfalls, expectations and pathways for healing strained relationships.
Moderated by sociologist and educator Ebru Aydin, Theater Utrecht director Anne Breure, founder of the Utrecht Ballroom Scene Andre Damian and OCCII's business coordinator Sandra Maat examine how institutions can responsibly use their power, influence and resources for community benefit. What changes when a grassroots organization professionalizes into an institution? What must be protected, what transforms, and how can identity, decision-making and accountability evolve without losing the people at the centre?
Facilitator: Ebru Aydin
