A musical hunter-gatherer, Badreddine Haouat, AKA Retro Cassetta, has spent years digging through crates in the lookout for North African music gems. His gargantuan cassette collection forms a musical museum filled with artifacts from the past four decades; from Algerian and Moroccan Chaabi music to rap, rock, and even recordings from the Gnaoua people, who have been living in the region for centuries. Curating a mix of African, Berber, and Islamic sounds, Retro Cassetta is dusting off these unearthed Maghrebian treasures and introducing them to new curious listeners.
