Nirosta Steel
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steven Hall, aka Nirosta Steel, has been active for decades—as a frequent collaborator of Arthur Russell and a figure in the cultural scenes of Glasgow, Taiwan and New York City—but gained wider recognition only in 2026, with the release of MY SKYSCRAPER. Spanning 40 years of works, re-works and works-forever-in-progress, the compilation barely scratches the surface of his output. Moving freely between sensual art-folk, left field disco, experimental synth-pop, dub, funk and Balearic house, his music forms are a rare and specific constellation of ideas and motifs: queer love songs, night life, giddy desire and odes to lovers of yesterday.
