MEMORIALS
Curated by Tropical Fuck Storm
Dubbed “Stereolab’s evil twin” while on tour with them, MEMORIALS emerged from the collaboration between two film soundtrack composers. They have since developed a surrealist pop duo, displaying timeless song craft with avant-garde attitudes, drawing on both the familiar and the strange, while also treading new ground. Imagine Nico singing on a baroque pop record with CAN: they create cosmic journeys into psych rock, far-out folk and wild analogue electronics, fired by the spirit of free jazz. Sounding like an unearthed classic, MEMORIALS twist their influences into their own unmistakable sound, created utilizing analogue recording techniques, reel-to-reel tape machines and vintage effects.
This artist is part of the program curated by Tropical Fuck Storm. The post-apocalyptic acid punk disco scuzzheads have curated a sonically diverse mix featuring longtime musical inspirations, friends and collaborators; artists that they've met on the road, and acts that they've been eager to see live.
