The work of singer, violinist and electronic composer Maarja Nuut merges archaic resonances, contemporary electronics and minimalist composition into a hypnotic, deeply textured and singular whole. Classically trained, she has delved into a number of disparate genres: Hindustani classical music, Estonian archival sounds, field recording and the outer limits of electronic and experimental sound. Fuelled by instinct and curiosity, she folds these elements into a mesmerizing sonic language, creating immersive, often hypnotic music that moves between minimalism, rich textures and experimental soundscapes.
